Jojo Barr, founder and creative lead of House Nine, describes this project as the kind every designer hopes for. “When your client trusts your vision and gives you creative freedom, that’s when the magic happens,” she shared. The color palette draws directly from the surrounding Yorkshire landscape: soft greens, gentle terracotta's, and muted earth tones that reflect the rhythm of the seasons. These colors aren’t just pretty, they’re grounding, comforting, and made to stand the test of time.
To keep things cozy and personal, the team layered in natural textures like linen and cotton in subtle patterns, stripes, muted chintz, and plain weaves. Each room glows thanks to sheer café curtains and Roman shades that filter light just right, creating a calm, diffused atmosphere throughout.

Barr emphasized the importance of personalization, explaining that no two clients are alike, so their homes shouldn’t be either. This translated into one-of-a-kind touches, from antique brass accents to playful ruffles on headboards, all selected or designed with the family’s personality in mind.
“I believe a home should look beautiful and feel beautiful. Function and comfort go hand in hand,” Barr says.
